Muscle Function and Thickness Are Not Associated with Responsiveness to Post-Activation Performance Enhancement

چکیده

There is great variability in responsiveness to post-activation performance enhancement (PAPE). Factors such as greater expression of type II muscle fibers and experience with strength training are associated PAPE. We investigated whether there an association between markers muscular function morphology PAPE untrained individuals. Sixty-six active men (22 ± 2 years, 74 11 kg, 172 27 cm) participated the study. Their countermovement jump (CMJ) heights were measured before four minutes after a pre-activation protocol consisting five squats 5RM load. Isometric knee extensor peak torque (IPT), CMJ power (POCON), thickness vastus lateralis (VLMT) participants also determined unpotentiated condition. Change height (ΔCMJ) following was calculated its associations baseline (CMJCON), POCON, IPT, VLMT tested. Linear stepwise multiple regression models applied screen for predictors ΔCMJ among dependent variables. No significant change (p = 0.28) observed PA (pre: 30.8 5.1 cm; post: 31.0 5.5 cm). > 0.05) found VLMT, CMJCON (r 0.29, 0.18, 0.09, 0.01, respectively). analyses did not result any prediction. Although we confirmed high individual response PA, no neuromuscular performance/morphology found.

The Effects of Photobiomodulation on Shoulder Pain, Muscle Thickness, and Function in Subjects With Adhesive Capsulitis

Background: Adhesive capsulitis or frozen shoulder is among the most prevalent causes of pain and disability in individuals. Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the effect of Photobiomodulation (PBM) on pain, range of motion, and thickness and function of supraspinatus muscle in patients with adhesive capsulitis. Materials & Methods: Overall, 52 subjects (n=26/group) with adhesive capsulitis r...

Are 25(OH) D concentrations associated with asthma control and pulmonary function test?

Background: The relationship between vitamin D and asthma is still under investigation. We aimed to evaluate the association between serum vitamin D levels and clinical characteristics of asthma, and the impact of vitamin D deficiency on the clinical manifestations, as them being the issues of debate. Methods: Patients who were admitted to the outpatient clinics of Chest Diseases Department of...

The Mediating Effects of Caffeine Ingestion and Post-Activation Performance Enhancement on Reactive Dive Times in Goalkeepers

Background. The reactive abilities of goalkeepers are crucial and may directly impact match results. Therefore, research on factors that may enhance goalkeeper performances during diving tasks (DT) and how these factors are mediated would provide valuable information for coaches and goalkeepers. Objectives. The purpose of this investigation was to: (i) assess the impact of caffeine consumption...

Cerebellum activation associated with performance change but not motor learning.

The issue of whether the cerebellum contributes to motor skill learning is controversial, principally because of the difficulty of separating the effects of motor learning from changes in performance. We performed a functional magnetic resonance imaging investigation during an implicit, motor sequence-learning task that was designed to separate these two processes. During the sequence-encoding ...

a comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection
